Istanbul Blues Company The band was founded by Sarp Keskiner and Salih Nazım Peker in 1993. Until 2000 the band proved to be a school of sorts for many musicians, performing conventional blues, gospel and cajun forms with acoustic electronica, collective improvisation, Anatolia, West Africa and Middle Asia music styles together. Sarp Keskiner who previously founded groups such as Tuzlu Nehir, Mama & Friends, Mardi Gras and Kır Üçlüsü, also brought together Vefa Karatay and Feramerz Ayadi with Moe Joe, and organized many concerts with the band. Keskiner began his music production and music directorate career in 1997 with the first album of Istanbul Blues Company, “Kökler” (Roots), also known as the first blues album of the country.
