Nilüfer Akbal
Born in Muş, Varto, she came to Istanbul to study music. She began her music education in folk songs, instrument and solfege in Arif Sağ Music School. Taking part in collective albums with meritorious musicians such as Hasret Güktekin and Abuzer Karakoç, she took singing and opera lessons from Begüm Erdem. In the beginning of 1990’s she went to Europe and completed her opera education in Rhenische Musikschule in Köln. Returning to Turkey in 1995 she released the album “Miro” with the arrangement of Kadir Karakoç, which won great recognition both at home and abroad. Besides attending many concerts, festivals, radio and TV programmes around the world, she has already released six albums. Her last album “Herire” was released in 2010 with the label of Ada Music. The album brings together various ancient maqams of the Middle East as well as new compositions. It also features a linguistic diversity as the previous albums of Akbal.
