Grup İstasyon (Station) was founded in 1992 by Levent Filiz, the electric guitarist and Taner Songören, the soloist in Ankara. Levent Filiz decided to make music with the inspiration he got from Elvis Presley and Deep Purple as well as the Anatolian rock movement of the time. Breaking apart with his fiance, he could not forget her saying “Look the station is there, go” and gave his band the name “station.” The band released its first album “Sessizce” (In Silence) in 1993. In subsequent years Özgür Teraman (vocal, keyboard, acoustic guitar) and Eray Kıhtır’la (guitar) joined the band proceeding on its way with progressive rock. In their second album “Yeminin mi Var” released in 1996 the band successfully blended the Anatolian musical themes with Western sounds, developing a style which they call Folk Rock. The band carries on its music career with new albums and concerts.
