Selva Erdener

Born in Ankara. Having completed her pre-bachelor’ s degree at Gazi University, Music Education School, she entered the Hacettepe University, State Conservatory in Ankara. There, she studied singing with Nurdan Ozar, Lied and Oratorio repertory with Mufide Ozguc. She started her career at the State Opera and Ballet Company in Ankara as soloist where she performed the title roles in the operas; “Cosi Fan Tutte”, “Zaide”, “Don Giovanni”, “The Magic Flute”, “Faust”, “La Boheme”, “I Pagliacci”, “The Merry Widow”, “Kerem”, “Ali Baba”, “Istanbulname” “ Leyla ile Mecnun”.
At the State Opera, she attended singing lessons of Mr. Roman Verlinsky and Mrs. Lidia Pronina. She is also very active as a concert singer and performs regularly with orchestras such as Moscow Radio Symphony, Presidential Symphony (Ankara), Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Bursa, Cukurova State Symphony orchestras, DESO (Izmir), Hacettepe University Symphony Orchestra, C.R.R. Symphony (Istanbul).

She recorded a number of CDs for different occasions. In her first CD "Sen Sen Sen" released (2001), she recorded original compositions and Turkish Folk Tune arrangements by Turgay Erdener. For the CD recording of the Ballet Music “Afife” again by Turgay Erdener, she sang the solo soprano part with the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra.
In 2005 she made the world premier of "Requiem Without Words" of Kamran Ince at Istanbul Music Festival and recorded it for Naxos with Bilkent Symphony Orchestra. In 2009 she sang in the soundtrack of "Mustafa" , film by Can Dündar, music composed by Goran Bregovich and this music is published seperately as a CD.

As a guest artist at Tiyatro Oyunevi, she performed Lorca's " Five years passed" at the Istanbul Theatre Olympics. She also performed in the productions "Waitings" and "East Soul"
In 2008 with “Theatre du Centaur” she played for the short film " Flux- Istanbul".
In 2011 she played the title role of the world premier of " Medea" opera by Wim Henderickx with the regie of Paul Koek and with Hermes Ensemble and Veeenfabrik. The opera was performed in 15 cities in Netherlands and Belgium. In Autumn 2011 she performed the same work in concert version in the 55th International Festival of Contemporary Music in "Biennale di Venezia".
In 2011 her second Cd "Düşlerimin Toprağı" ,a collection of Turkish composers' songs is relaesed.
Selva Erdener produced her album “Nereye Aşkım”, which met with the audience in May 2013, together with “Turquoise Quartet”, that she has performed several concerts together since 2005.

The album consists of Turgay Erdener's latest works and folk adaptations and released.
Selva Erdener has been a soloist on Fazil Say's "İlk Şarkılar" album which was released on the market in November 2013 by Ada Müzik. In 2015, Selva Erdener, took part in the "Divan Türkische Sofafahrten" project of the Austrian artist Josef Tratner. In the same year, she took a role and supported “Göle Yas" documentary which is about Mehmet Şafak Turkel's struggle with the aim of saving the Burdur lake and preventing the formation of the lake.
She also performed in the U. S. A., Denmark, Hungary, Macedonia, Estonia, Syria, Tadjikistan, Netherlands, Belgium, Kyrgyzstan, Italy and Northern Cyprus. She performs regularly with Turquoise Quartet. She is currently soloist in Ankara State Opera and Ballet Company. In 2016 she sang as Leyla in the Turkish premier of Uzeyir Hacibeyli’s mugam opera “Leyla and Mecnun”.
In 2017-18 season she played in Şirin Aktemur’s dramatic play “ soul shards”. In 2018 she sang as soloist in M. Theodorakis’s “Zorba”. Her last CD “Biliyor musun” released by Ada Music in 2018.
