Münip Utandı

He was born in 24th of August,1952. He finished his education until university in Antakya. During his education at IU Faculty of Law, he attended Boğaziçi University Turkish Music Choir under the direction of Ruhi Ayangil, IU Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty Choir under the direction of Ali Rıza Kural, Kadıköy Music Society under the direction of Melahat Pars and the University Choir under the direction of Süheyla Altmışört and Ender Ergün.
He took part in the first staff of the Istanbul Presidential Classical Turkish Music Choir, which was established in 1975, and continued his work with Nevzad Atlığ, which he received great support and encouragement from. He took part as a soloist in concerts given by the choir in Turkey and abroad, as well as in TV and radio programs.
Utandı, who gave many special concerts and took part as a soloist in many important festivals, contributed to TV series, theater plays and radio plays as well with his voice. 17 of his personal albums have been released.
For a while, he presented a live solo show called What Is Forgotten(Unutulmuş Ne Varsa) on Açık Radyo (Open Radio). He gave concerts with many ensembles such as Reflections(Yansımalar), İncesaz, Nevasaz, Ruhi Ayangil Meşk Unit, OMAR (Istanbul University Center for Research and Application of Ottoman Music).
He gave lectures at the ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory in the Master Class program under the name of "Workshops with Masters". He also gave wording and repertoire lessons at the ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory.
Münip Utandı, who is regarded as one of the leading interpreters of the last period with his ranged voice and original sound, is recently teaching wording and repertoire at Haliç University Conservatory and Kubbealtı Academy Culture and Art Foundation.
