Zeynep Halvaşi

She was born in Artvin. She graduated from Ankara Anatolian Fine Arts High School/Violin Department in 1996. In the same year, she attended Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts Opera-Singing and graduated in 2002 from Ivanka Gospadinova's class.
She started to work as a Choir Artist in the Ankara State Opera and Ballet Choir in the 1999-2000 art season.
In addition to her classical western music education, her special interest in folk songs caused her to turn to her field. She started to work on “symphonic folk songs” with the belief that these rich Anatolian motifs should be transferred to the universial area and she believed in the motto “from the local to the national, from the national to the universal”.She took part as a soloist in the "Black Sea Rhapsody", "Anatolian Rhapsody", "Harput Symphony" concerts and again in "Symphonic Concerts" arranged by conductor and composer Bujor Hoinic.
She performed with the Olten Philharmonic Orchestra for the concert "Aegean and Rumeli Folk Songs" arranged by Yusuf Yalçın and "Symphonic Homage to Neşet Ertaş" arranged by the conductor and composer Serdar Yalçın.
She took part as a soloist in "Sait Faik" by pianist and composer Fazıl Say and made its world premiere.
She took part in the establishment and management of the Nazım Hikmet Choir, which was founded in June 2015 and whose music director is Fazıl Say.
