Mehtap Meral had her major degree on violin at Marmara University's Department of Music Teaching. She took part in Ruhi Su Dostlar Choir as a chorist for a long time and meanwhile she performed at many different halls and gave concerts. She took part in several art events in Turkey and abroad. 

 

As a music educator, she trained many students. While she was performing the songs of the film 'Mutluluk' which was adapted from the novel of Zulfu Livaneli with same name, she kept on working on her own melodies and lyrics. 

Her first album 'Ask' was published by Ada Music in 2011. That Tango album has nine songs. Apart from the songs 'Kayip' which was composed Furug Ferruhzad and 'Ben Her Bahar Asik Olurum' whose lyrics was written by Aysel Gurel and composed by Selmi Andak, all songs in that album were composed by Mehtap Meral. And all songs in her new album 'Yana Yana' were composed by Mehtap Meral, apart from 'Kis Uykusu' by Gulten Akin, who is also a woman poet. 

 

Her first poetry book 'Kedi Mevsimi' was published in 2010 and 'Ses ve Toz' was published in 2015 by Yasakmeyve Publications. Both books were highly praised by literary societies.
