Getting acquainted with music during secondary school years Birsen Tezer takes part in high school music contests in years 1982 - 1983 and gets important places in these contests. Deciding to get music education, she enters the examinations of İstanbul Technical University State Conservatory of Turkish Music in 1984 and succeeds. İncidentally choosing zither as her instrument she begins to take lessons from Erol Deran.
After completing her conservatory education, her professional music career begins. Her musical adventure starting with the guitar flourishes gradually giving way to a new music group sound during the early 1990s. Then she begins to perform in various places in Istanbul with her group. Her distinctive repertory takes shape in those years.
In 1998 Tezer performs the duet song “Kimseye Anlatmadım” (I Couldn’t Tell Anyone) with Bülent Ortaçgil in his album “Light.” She also performs the song “Çığlık Çığlığa” (Shouting and Screaming) in the tribute album to Bülent Ortaçgil named “Şarkılar Bir Oyundur” (Songs Are a Play). She takes part in joint projects with precious musicians such as İlhan Şeşen and Gürol Ağırbaş. She vocalizes a soundtrack written by İlhan Şeşen.
After living in Bodrum for ten years, she returns to Istanbul with a bundle of new ideas. She tells them orally and musically to her group friends with whom she has shared the same stage for long years. Then she releases her first album “Cihan” in 2009. In the album she includes the works of Bülent Ortaçgil, Erkan Oğur , İlhan Şeşen and Zafer Cınbıl in addition to her own songs. The song “Aşk Değil Bu” (It’s Not Love) in the album ranks among the songs of world-famous musicians in the collective album “Babylon Bar Vol 2”.
She also takes part in the albums of various renowned musicians with her vocals such as Bülent Ortaçgil in the song “İstediğini Yap” (Do What You Want) in his album “Sen” (You), and Hüsnü Arkan in the song “Hoş Geldin” (Welcome) in his album “Solo”.
Birsen Tezer continues her music career in Istanbul. Now she is preparing to release her second album to meet her listeners again.
