Mor ve Ötesi
The alternative rock band was founded by four high school friends in 1995. In the following year they released their first album “Şehir” which consists of their own compositions with the label of Ada Music. In 1997 the first line-up change took place with Burak Güven replacing Alper Tekin on bass. In 1998, the band began working on its next album, “Bırak Zaman Aksın.” Derin Esmer left the band after the recording, and was replaced by Kerem Özyeğen on guitar. The band had found its current line-up and the album was released on March 1999 by Ada Music, like its predecessor. The third album Gül Kendine, the band’s most proficiently crafted work to date, was once again recorded and produced by Volkan Gürkan, and released in December 2001. The promo tour for the album was also the band’s first proper nationwide tour and received wide critical acclaim. In 2003 they composed their anthemic “Savaşa Hiç Gerek Yok” to protest against the war in Iraq. Their song “Bir Derdim Var” which was composed for the soundtrack of the film Mustafa Hakkında Herşey brought the band the prestigious Altın Portakal (Golden Orange) Award at the 41st International Antalya Film Festival for Best Song for a Motion Picture. The band is also known for its opponent standing in the country and they carry on their successful music career with new projects.
