İlkay Akkaya
After graduating from the Press High School in Marmara University she joined Grup Yorum as the soloist. Contributing to two albums of the group, she departed in 1989 and founded Grup Kızılırmak with Tuncay Akdoğan and İsmail İlknur in 1990. The group released thirteen albums, made music for many plays and gave many concerts at home and abroad. İlkay Akkaya also continued her solo works, made the soundtrack of the film “Bir Küçük Bulut” in 1991 and acted parts in some plays. Her first album “Kül” (Ashes) was released 1999 with the label of Ada Music. The same year she took part in the compiled folk music album “Salkım Söğüt.” Her second solo album “Unutma” (Don’t Forget) was released in 2001. Her third album “Yine” (Then Again) and the last one “Yalnız” (Lonely) were released respectively in 2003 and 2005. Also in 2005 the last album of Grup Kızılırmak, “Yılkı” was released.
