Born in Anamur Erdal Güney got interested with music in his early childhood and when he entered İstanbul University to study Economics in 1992 he began to take music lessons from renowned names such as Tahsin İndirici, Elmira Aşrafova, Jerair Arslanyan, Kemal Kaplan and Ferhat Livaneli. In the years 1993-1994 he went to France with the invitation of a cultural foundation in Metz to give baglama lessons. He worked as an administrator in the Culture Centre of Anamur-Ören Municipality between the years 1994-1996. Güney also gave baglama lessons and conducted a chorus during these years. From 1998 to 2003 he took part in the teaching staff in German-Turkish Music Academy, a renowned cultural foundation in Berlin.
He produced music for miscellaneous films, documentaries and TV series such as İlk Göz Ağrısı (TV series-2005), Unutulmayanlar (Film-2006), Aşk Olsun Çocuk (Short Film) , Günah (Kısa Film), Hatırla Sevgili (TV series-2007), Elveda Rumeli (TV series-2007), Dicle (TV series), Yemin (TV series), Gitmek (Film), Cemil Meriç (Documentary-2008), Asi Ruh (Documentary), Kalemi kırmasaydık (Documentary-2009), Özgürlük Ararken Türkiye (Documentary), Bu Kalp Seni Unutur Mu (TV series-2009), Balkan Düğünü (TV series), Sesim Rüzgara (Documentary-2010), Denizden Gelen (Film), Divan Yolu (Film-2011), Linex (Jingle), Hayat (Short Film), Balkanların Kalbindeki Sahne (Documentary-2012), Gökyüzüne Sunulan Gerdanlık MAHYA (Belgesel).

He has released his instrumental album “Perihel” with the label of Ada Music in 2013. Erdal Güney attended many concerts and music festivals organized within cultural activities in different countries including France, Germany, Netherlands and Sweden. He is stil studying on a musical fieldwork in Taşeli Plato. He got a master’s degree from the department of Sinema&TV in the Fine Arts Institute of Marmara University. He is giving lectures on film Soundtrack at the same department and carrying on his musical career with new projects in Istanbul.
