Ruhi Su
Ruhi Su The meritorious Opera and Folk musician Ruhi Su was born in 1912 in Van. After completing his education in Ankara Music Teacher’s Training School in 1936 and in the Opera department of Ankara State Conservatory in 1942 worked in Ankara and Istanbul Radios between the years 1943-1950. He also worked in Ankara State Opera until 1952. He produced music for various films during these years. He gave many concerts in England, Germany, Sweden, Bulgaria, Holland and Australia. His first record was released in 1962 and he founded Dostlar Korosu (The Choir of Friends) in 1975. He contributed precious compilations to Turkish Folk music with his works such as Seferberlik ve Kuva-i Milliye (1971), Yunus Emre (1972), Karacaoğlan (1973), Pir Sultan Abdal (1974 ), Şiirler Türküler (1975), Köroğlu (1976), El Kapıları (1977), Sabahın Sahibi Var (1978), Semahlar (1979), Çocuklar Göçler Balıklar (1980), Zeybekler (1982). He is the one who introduced polypho.....
