Hilmi Yarayıcı is a Turkish folk and protest musician known as the legendary soloist of the widely acclaimed protest music band, Grup Yorum. He joined the group in 1988. Although he departed in 1995, he continued to give support to the group in concerts and albums. In 1995 he entered the Istanbul Technical University (ITU) State Conservatory and took part in ITU Polyphonic Western Music Chorus. Both before and after the conservatory he took voice and opera lessons from various masters. Apart from his solo albums, he also produced music for various TV series and films. He is stil working as a music teacher in Kasımpaşa High School. With Erdal Güney he produced a soundtrack album called “Unutulmayanlar” (Unforgettables) in 2007.

Born in Anamur Erdal Güney got interested with music in his early childhood and when he entered İstanbul University to study Economics in 1992 he began to take music lessons from renowned names such as Tahsin İndirici, Elmira Aşrafova, Jerair Arslanyan ve Kemal Kaplan. In the years 1993-1994 he went to France to give baglama lessons with the invitation of a cultural foundation in Metz. He worked as an administrator in the Culture Centre of Anamur-Ören Municipality between the years 1994-1996. Güney also gave baglama lessons and conducted a chorus during these years. From 1998 to 2003 he took part in the teaching staff in German-Turkish Music Academy which is a special cultural foundation in Berlin. He attended many concerts and music festivals organized within cultural activities in different countries including France, Germany, Netherlands and Sweden. In 2007 he produced a soundtrack album called “Unutulmayanlar” (Unforgettables) with Hilmi Yarayıcı. At the moment he is doing a musical fieldwork in Taşeli Plato.
