Erdem Sökmen
Erdem Sökmen He started his first guitar training with Raffi Arslanyan. He studied composition and guitar at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. He was educated by Cengiz Tanç, Cemal Reşit Rey, İlhan Usmanbaş and Carlo Domeniconi. He graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, harmony-counterpoint in 1982 and guitar in 1984. In 1986, he founded the classical guitar department at Istanbul University State Conservatory. He received the title of Proficiency in Art at the same institution and continued as an instructor between 1987-2022. In addition to being an instructor, he was also interested in jazz music, and performed in various concerts with the groups Passiflora, Erdem Sökmen Quartet and the Istanbul Guitar Ensemble, which consists of three guitars and bandoneon. He started to perform concerts with Hasan Meten as a guitar duo in 2013 and released their album "1" in 2019. Currently, Sökmen continues his concerts, album recordings and productions.....
