Serdar Kemal

Born in Istanbul, Serdar Kemal began his musical education by taking baglama lessons from the virtuoso Erdal Erazincan in 1993 with the support of his father who is also a folk musician himself. 

Entering the Liberal Arts department of the Turkish Music Conservatory of Istanbul Technical University in 1997, Kemal began to give baglama lessons in various places.

During his years in the conservatory he took part in many concerts with his baglama. He also gave many recitals and concerts both at home and abroad in order to promote and endear Turkish folk music.

Improving the tapping technique in baglama, Serdar Kemal played for the albums and in concerts of many musicians. He also took part in the orchestra of the play “Bedrettin” written and directed by Mehmet Akan and put on the stage by State Theatre in 2004–05. The music producer of the play was Timur Selçuk and Serdar Kemal also worked with him for the soundtrack of the play.  

Kemal got his master’s degree from the Social Sciences Institute of Haliç University in 2008. tamamladı.
He released his first solo album “Serden Türküler” in 2007, the music directorship of which he undertook himself. He also produced music for the documentaries of ’’Kardeş Nereye-Mübadele” and ’’Oyunlarla Yaşayan Şehir”, and the play “Hayırsız Olay”.

Kemal’s new album “Duru” has been released with the label of Ada Music. Being the product of three years of meticulous efforts with the contribution of precious musicians, the album’s arrangements has been undertaken by Ersin Bişgen.
