Soul Sacrifice
A Turkish metal band from Istanbul, Soul Sacrifice has a variety of sounds, including mostly death metal with melodic tunes, some oriental turkish melodies and a mixture of different vocal types. The band started jamming by guitarists Maksim and Feyzi in 1997. Maksim also did the vocals in early days of first four piece line-up. In 1999, Baris (ex-voc.) joined the band and started to do the vocal work. The band went beyond being an amateur metal band at short notice. In 2001, Sevan (ex-bass) and Cagri (ex-drums) joined the band and new line-up started to work. The band recorded their first demo, “A Gift From An Angel”, which was used for promotional purposes and performed in big festivals & shows.
The band has departed in 2003 opening the door for the current line-up. Onur, the drummer of the band in the album “Myst” formally joined the band. Then Ozgur Ozkan who had worked with the band several times before joined as the bass player and the vocalist. In 2004, the band decided to put the ideas together in the form of an album with this line up. And consequently the first recording “Stranded Hate” was released 2005.
Soul Sacrifice is one of the most known live band in Turkey yet has never had a chance to play abroad. The band has performed 80 concerts in 10 years, which is the best percentage in Turkey. These performances include the biggest international metal fests and shows in Turkey including Zoo Fest (2003, 2004), Rock Station (2003, 2006), H2000 (2003), Barisarock
(2003,2004,2005,2007), Rock The Nations (2004), Rock Republic (2005), Summer Rocks (2007), Unirock (2008, 2009). The band had chance to share the stage with great names including Slayer, In Flames, Kreator, Opeth, Necrophagist, Dio, Overkill and much more. The band also performed as the opening act of the bands Orphaned Land, Dark Tranquillity and Arch Enemy.
Now Soul Sacrifice is waiting to meet its listeners with its second album “Carpe Mortem,” the mixing and mastering of which has done by Dan Swanö (www. unisound.se), a well known producer in metal genre.
