Ezginin Günlüğü (The Diary of Ezgi)
The band was founded by Emin İgüs, Hakan Yılmaz, Şebnem Ünal, Vedat Verter and Nadir Göktürk in 1982, a time when the effects of the 1980 coup d’etat were still being intensely felt. They won recognition in a short time with their distinctive style and their adaptations from the poems of famous Turkish and world poets such as Nazım Hikmet, Shakespeare, Ritsos, A. Kadir, Mevlana, Kavafis, Paul Valéry, Orhan Veli. Their repertory also included traditional folk music.
The first studio album of the band, “Seni Düşünmek” (To Think of You) was released in 1985. After Tanju Duru and Cüney Duru joined the band that followed with other albums; Sabah Türküsü’ (Morning Ballad), “Alagözlü Yar” (Hazel Eyed Love), “Bahçedeki Sandal” (The Board in the Garden) were released in the eighties and “Ölüdeniz” (The Dead Sea) in 1990. Through the end of year 1990, with the departure of Emin İgüs, Cüneyt Duru and Tanju Duru the band underwent a very important change.
Nadir Göktürk, the only remaining member began trying to set up the band again. Thus, the band entered a new phase with Fatih Saçlı who had formerly took part in various studio works of the group and with Hüsnü Arkan who had to live in Holland for long years due to the 1980 coup d’etat. With the release of the album İstavrit (The Bluefin) in 1993 a new page was opened.
The band became especially popular with the album “Oyun” (The Game) in 1995. In 1996 Feyza Erenmemiş joined the band as soloist with the album “Ebruli” (Variegated). In 1997, the album “Hürriyete Doğru” (Towards Freedom) and in 1998 “Aşk Yüzünden” (All Because of Love) were released. In the 2000s the albums “Rüya” (The Dream) and “Her Şey Yolunda” (Everything is Ok) wre released. In 2002 Eylem Atmaca joined the group. Later, the album “İlk Aşk” (First Love) in 2003 and the album “Dargın mıyız” (Are you Offended?) in 2005 followed.
And in year 2007, as a tribute to the 25th anniversary of the band, the album “Çeyrek” (Quarter) was released. Along its music career besides the group members many musicians contributed to the recordings of the band. So the band proved to be a productive platform for many.
